Discount Service Card

The Discount Card service came into being in 1992, at a time of high unemployment and before the Celtic Tiger. In Clare, unemployment was very high and various local voluntary groups recognised the need to help improve the living standards by introducing the discount card. It involved a partnership between Social Welfare, the Clare Council of Trade Unions, Local Traders and Clare Local Authorities in the Ennis area.

The Discount Service Card is very much in demand and is available to all Social Welfare recipients and Senior Citizens.

A Discount Service Card costs €2.50. All you need to do is fill out an application form, get it stamped at Social Welfare and return to us with a passport sized photograph. The card will be made here in the Centre and is valid for six months from time of issue.
