Bereavement Counselling

The Congress Information & Opportunity Centre has received funding from the Family Support Agency for a number of years now. This funding is specifically given to provide bereavement counselling and support to families who have been affected by the death of a family member. This is provided by the CIOC through group educational grief and loss workshops, “Good Grief” program, and one to one counselling if preferred. These services are provided free of charge to eligible people.

Child Counselling for Children with Separated Parents

The Family Support Agency also provides funding for counselling services to children whose lives have been affected by parental separation. Again this service is free of charge for eligible children.

“SOLAS” Suicide Support

The family Support Agency provides funding for the bereavement counselling to help maintain the running of The “SOLAS” Suicide Support Group. This group runs here at the centre one Saturday, every month, throughout the year. It provides support to those whose lives have been affected by suicide and is also free of charge.

Solas Suicide Support has also received fundraising money from various people and events throughout the county. This is greatly appreciated and all monies donated will be spent on One to One Counselling for people who are suicidal, or whose lives have been affected by suicide.
